Character Design: Figuring out the Sidekick

After designing the villain and the hero, the time has come for the sidekick to be designed. The process took some time as I wasn't sure which way I should go, however I did know that he had to be an underwater creature.

After not seeing any effects in random inspirations, I decided to focus on only one sea-creature at a time. First one to go was Aksolotl - an andorable creature with interesting body structure and colours.

Still unsure and unconvinced I went to seek help from Justin. After a conversation and analize of each design I got convinced that lower right design on the left sheet is good and that it should be carried on into further development. Sheet below shows few quick expression drawing that I did just to make sure I liked this guy enough to make him the sidekick.

Character Design: 26.11.2013

Character design classes assignment was to create cretures that would live in a given environment. I was given forest and below are three designs I came up with:

Narrative: Lighting Tests

Few low quality renders with lights that have been placed around the set. More lights will have to be added when animating certain shots to support the narrative.

Character Design: Further Villain Development and Hero Design

The villain has been taken into further development as the previous designs of the possessed scientist were not convincing enough. Sheet on the left shows the process of the human scientist slowly transforming into the demon. Top drawing on the right shows the final demonic form.

The time has also come for the hero to start being designed. Sheet on the left shows initial sketches and ideas for the hero, and sheet on the right presents sketch number nine taken into further development.

Character Design: 19.11.2013

Yesterday's classes presented us with the topic of environment and the importance of it matching the character. For the in-class assignment I was given a theme of Insane Ninja's Dojo.

Narrative: Trophy Wall Sketches

As a person responsible for texturing pictures from the trophy wall, I decided to quickly sketch ideas for what Felix's dad could have hanging on his trophy wall in his office.
Sketches below present ideas which will be taken into photoshop and painted properly.

Narrative: Modelling Environment

Modelling the environment is now finished. The time has come to start UV Mapping and Texturing. Pictures below show the set in one piece and how we divided the workload over UV Mapping (colourful wireframe picture).
