Fantastic Voyage: The Prokaryotic Life // EDITED

I made few changes in the timing of the animation even though I knew they were going to be really subtle. I also decided to leave the old version of sound effects.

Fantastic Voyage: Various Stages of Maya Progression

1. Preparing the prokaryotic cell for the animation stage:

Unfortunate disappearance of eye lids. Many deformers, hundreds of copied elements.

At first the prokaryotic cell was supposed to be textured, although I decided to have him only bum mapped as the textures where not working quite how I wanted them to.

Comparision of the pre-viz quality and bum mapped render.

Fantastic Voyage: Pre-Viz and Animatic

For the Pre-Viz I decided to stay with the version without sound effects, although they are going to appear in the final animation.
Few scenes and details are going to be refined in After Effects and during the actual process of animating.

And again the animatic; just for the comparision.

Fantastic Voyage: Models

I decided to go for a version without textures as it seems cleaner and more suitable with the story.
1. Eukaryotic cell:
blending shape is going to happen here

2. Prokaryotic cell:

3. Lab equipment:

Fantastic Voyage: Modelling Progress - Eukaryotic Cell

I started modelling this guy before Easter but other things kept me busy.
I decided to start with the easier cell, and here it is - the prokaryotic one. I am still not sure how to create his mouth (I am considering After Effect in later stages) and how to UV him properly, as I would like the colour to be less clean and more varied? Maybe some cartoonish stroke.

Fantastic Voyage: Animatic

Animatic with (temporary) sounds.
I'm still not sure if I want to have it in a really cartoony way or not, although I find the background music suiting the style. I guess in the end I will have to think about recording my own SFXs as I wasn't able to find exactly what I wanted.

Fantastic Voyage: Rough Soundless Animatic

Rough and soundless animatic:

Unfortunately I have no idea about the background music. Any suggestions?

Fantastic Voyage: General Style Research

Research for the style of this project. A little bit of sweetness and cheesiness, mixed with slimy crawling cell in the centre of the whole action!

1. Doomed: a biological cartoon
This animation inspired me in the first place.

2. Peak Condition
THE TOAST.

3. FriendsWithYou Reel
This might be too much, though there are few really interesting designs which suit well with the vision I have in my head.

3. Ragnarok - Porings
The sweetness of eukaryotic cells (?)

4. Various Influences

I guess it gives the general idea of what's in my head and what's my vision for this project.
Any othere suggestions and ideas, anyone? By the way, I found so many great short animations I cold spend the whole evening just watching them and having fun. The Internet is full of positive surprises sometimes! : D
